Breakup Songs (& General Self-Loathing)

Breakup Songs (& General Self-Loathing) by Aaron Spacemuseum   (November 11, 2011)

With the arrogant innocence of bands like Cake and the ironic cheer of Reel Big Fish, Aaron Spacemuseum’s latest, Breakup Songs can be laughably honest at times.  Behind the cheerful dexterity of the record is a more hurt sentiment that gives each track that sharp contrast; the contrast of pretending things are okay, when they clearly aren’t.  The album lives completely on a personal level, almost as a on-sided conversation, but keeps twisting itself to deliver an unexpected pop experience. “Bitch, bitch, bitch, bitch, bitch, that’s all you do.” – honesty, see?
