Armada by Clytem Scanning   (April 12, 2011) *

Often rising above the stereotype of “bizarre female electronica” Clytem Scanning brings an original, pop oriented breathe to a scene desperately in need. From thundering drum based tracks to ethereal atmospheric journeys the album bounces back and forth from wildly intense and reflectively somber.  Obviously well versed in their music theory, Armada comes off as an intelligent, yet strangely angst-filled album.  The aesthetic is clean and then rhythms are dark.
