Motive by Motive   (October 29, 2010)

Motives eponymous EP begins with the driving but melodic ‘Same Old Future’, introducing a band that sticks with poise and passion as their main mission.  With an early Kings of Leon honesty (please don’t ask what happened to that band, they went off the deep end after Because of the Times) they deliver a powerful performance filled with twisting poetics and lashing guitars.  At times they slow down, back off and show a softer side.  It’s almost like seeing a tough man cry but far more interesting.  At times they show a greater appreciate for intricacies, portraying what I might site as a Radiohead influenced understanding of music.
